Training Progression for Handgun Owners
New Handgun Shooter (Step 1)
Tuition: $50.00
Pre-requisite: None
Required Equipment: None
Description: A 3-hour course designed for new shooters. Learn the basics of safe handgun handling and shooting in a practical, easy-to-understand format.
Handgun Fundamentals (Step 2)
Tuition: $65.00
Pre-requisite: New Handgun Shooter or equivalent experience.
Required Equipment: A handgun (rentals available; ammunition must be purchased at The Range), 50 rounds of ammo, comfortable clothing, and a hat.
Description: Build on the basics with a focus on safety, grip, stance, aiming, and handling malfunctions. This class includes live-fire practice and is ideal for developing foundational skills.
Holstered Handgun (Step 3)
Tuition: $75.00
Pre-requisite: Handgun Fundamentals or equivalent training.
Required Equipment: A handgun, holster, 100 rounds of ammo, comfortable clothing, and a hat.
Description: This 4-hour course focuses on safely carrying a handgun, holster techniques, and introducing movement while shooting.
Intermediate Handgun for Self-Defense (Step 4)
Tuition: $100.00
Pre-requisite: Holstered Handgun or equivalent training.
Required Equipment: A handgun, holster, 200 rounds of ammunition, comfortable clothing, and a hat.
Description: Learn advanced techniques, including shooting from various positions, partner drills, and improving situational awareness. Perfect for shooters looking to refine self-defense skills.
Tennessee Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit
Tuition: $75.00
Pre-requisite: New Handgun Shooter or equivalent training.
Required Equipment: A quality handgun (rentals available), eye and ear protection, 50 rounds of factory ammunition.
Description: This state-required course teaches handgun safety, legal responsibilities, and basic shooting skills. Upon passing the written and shooting tests, you can apply for the TN Enhanced Handgun Carry Permit.

Criminal and Legal Liabilities of Handgun Carry

DESCRIPTION : This class explains the laws about carrying a handgun and what responsibilities come with it. Permit less carry doesn’t allow everyone to carry a handgun anywhere or at all times. Stay informed about what the law permits and your obligations.

DESCRIPTION: This one on one training is designed to provide 1 hour of hands on instruction to build a unique training program specific to your needs and interests.
PRE-REQUISITE: None
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT: Working handgun or rifle (Limited availability for rent on site for handguns and AR15’s. Our rental arsenal is constantly changing. No shotguns available for rent.)
-Minimum of (2) magazines (if not a rental or applicable)
-Ammunition: 50 to 100 rounds factory FMJ ammo
-PPE: Eye & ear protection (available for rent), face mask if COVID sensitive.
-Attire: Long pants, high collared shirt or t-shirt, closed-toe shoes, ball caps recommended.
Personalized Gun Fitting
This 1-hr lesson includes: Lane use, 3 gun rentals, one-on-one instruction, targets, one box of ammo.

Security Guard Training Classes
These courses are required by the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance to obtain an Unarmed or Armed Security Guard License. The courses cover the TN Private Protective Services Law and Rules book and follow the guidelines set forth by the state.
Unarmed Guard
$50.00, 4 hours
A person must finish the unarmed course before taking the armed guard course. If someone only wants an unarmed guard license, they only need to take the unarmed course. The course covers orientation, the legal powers and limits of a security guard, emergency procedures, and general duties.
Paperwork and workbooks are included in the tuition.
Armed Guard
$140.00, 16 hours
This course is for obtaining an armed guard license and lasts 2 days. It covers orientation, legal powers and limits of a security guard, emergency procedures, general duties, firearm handling, safety, maintenance, marksmanship training, and patrolling. Participants must pass a written test and qualify with a firearm on the range. To meet state requirements for Armed Security Guard, you must complete an unarmed course within 6 months.
This class includes unarmed guard training (4 hours).
Two Year Armed Guard Recertification
$75.00 4 hours
This course meets the training requirements necessary for the renewal of the Armed Guard license.

DESCRIPTION: This is the ultimate gun handling course! We help you improve your skills with firearms and ammunition designed to simulate real gunfights with fellow students and the instructor. You’ll practice drawing and firing, moving and shooting, and using cover and concealment skills from the Concealed Handgun course in force-on-force drills. You’ll face quick decision-making scenarios to decide whether to shoot. You’ll learn if your choices were correct and how accurate your shots were. The special ammunition for these drills is included in the tuition. It's as close to a real gunfight as you can get!
Personal Assault Combat Training (Basics of Self Defense)

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT:

DESCRIPTION: How do you protect yourself in places where firearms aren’t allowed? Your body can be a weapon, but you need training to use it effectively. P.A.C.T. (Personal Assault Combat Training) offers basic, memorable techniques to help you escape an attacker. In this class, you practice these techniques against an instructor using verbal challenges and strikes. We also cover how to defend against multiple attackers. This course promotes a survival mindset and teaches you to use your body defensively. It’s ideal for those who choose not to carry a gun or are underage.
A parent or guardian must attend with anyone under 18.
We have a very strict refund policy that applies to all classes and private lessons. Please be sure that you have read and understand the policy before enrolling in a class. If you have a conflict and cannot attend a class, please contact us immediately.
Terms of Sale: Payment in full due at time of enrollment to secure your space in the event. 50% of enrollment fee is nonrefundable.
Student Cancellation: More than 3 Days in advance of class date.
If a student cancels more than three days before class the student has the following options:
Receive the refundable 50% portion of their tuition fee via credit card refund.
Receive a tuition credit in the form the 50% refundable portion of their tuition payment to be applied to a future class or products. (Does not expire. Not refundable for cash after issue.)
Transfer enrollment in full into a future class in the calendar of events. Doesn’t extend into next calendar year or unpublished future event(s).
Student Cancellation: Less than 3 Days in advance of class date
If a student cancels in three days or less before a class, that student’s tuition in forfeited and cannot be applied to any other class.
The Range Cancellation: In the event that The Range cancels an event you are welcome to the following options:
1) a full refund of your enrollment fee
2) transfer into another class or private lesson, based on availability, on the current schedule of your choosing
3) store credit
Natural Disaster or Restricted Travel at a State or Federal Level: If Tennessee declares a travel ban, natural disaster, or state of emergency, or if other authorities issue travel bans causing a class cancellation, The Range will reschedule the course for the next year. No refunds will be given for cancellations due to these bans. If students cannot attend the new course date, they should contact The Range to discuss other options.
